The members of the Arab and Muslim American Green Party Caucus of New Jersey are united by a common goal of advocating for Arab and Muslim communities within the Green Party. Their work will include, but is not limited to, the shared focal aim of educating people about the brutal occupation and apartheid in Palestine.
The caucus’s advocacy aims to combat misinformation and advocate for equality for their communities while supporting and advocating for all marginalized groups, not just in New Jersey but all around the country. The caucus hopes to support candidates aligned with their views to run under the GPNJ. Finally, they aim to combat all forms of racism, inequality, and discrimination in the hopes that these efforts will one day bring about an end to the Palestinian genocide and eventually oppression and occupation everywhere.
Anam Raja, a founder and chair of this newly organized caucus, reflected on why she felt it so important to create the AMAGPC.
“My personal reasons for creating this caucus was to further enrich the Green Party’s diversity and bring critical perspectives to the forefront of discussions, ensuring that the needs and voices of Arab and Muslim Americans are better represented in party platforms and actions,” said Ms. Raja. “My objective is to educate and inform constituents (especially but not exclusively the Muslim and Arab communities) about the importance of breaking the two-party duopoly. This caucus will aim to foster active political engagement, advocate for policies that support these communities, and serve as a bridge to encourage greater participation of Arab and Muslim Americans within the GPNJ.”
The Green Party’s commitment to values such as social justice, environmental responsibility, and respect for diversity aligns closely with the values and aspirations of Arab and Muslim Americans. Establishing a caucus within GPNJ dedicated to representing the Arab and Muslim American communities will provide a platform for advocacy on issues specific to these communities, including civil rights, anti-discrimination efforts, fair immigration policies, and peace-oriented foreign policy with a focus on the Palestinian issue and ending the decades long occupation, brutality, apartheid, and currently the ethnic cleansing and genocide.
If last year’s presidential elections taught us anything, it is that the Arab and Muslim communities in NJ and the rest of the country need their voices to be heard!
The GPNJ’s goal in establishing this caucus is to empower the Arab and Muslim American communities in NJ. Members of these communities constitute an essential and growing demographic within the state, contributing significantly to the state’s diversity, economic prosperity, and cultural richness. That is why support was high during the 2025 Annual Convention in early April, and the establishment of the caucus was unanimously passed by our Green Council.
The GPNJ welcomes the addition of the Arab and Muslim American Green Party Caucus of New Jersey to the GPNJ, and cannot wait to get to work.
