Earth Day to May Day 2025 - People, Planet and Peace over Profit
The Earth Day to May Day theme highlights the interconnection between critical issues such as climate change, environmental justice, worker and immigrant rights, peace, anti-racism, and biodiversity.
The United States – and the planet – are facing existential challenges from accelerating climate change and the determination by Donald Trump to establish a dictatorship to further enrich himself and fellow oligarchs. The role of civil society and the rule of law are rapidly being dismantled.
The election of a Climate Denier as President has undercut the limited progress in addressing global warming, with global temperatures for the last year and a half already exceeding the target cap of 1.5 degrees Celsius. The threat of reaching dangerous climate tipping points will increase if this overshoot of the target continues in the next few decades. Six of the nine planet boundaries already have been exceeded.. With extreme weather increasingly rampaging across the country and planet, Trump is promoting the increased burning and production of fossil fuels while blocking the development of clean, renewable energy.
We need system change, not climate change or authoritarianism. We need to reject capitalism and the power of fossil fuel and military industrial complexes. Another World is essential to the future of humanity. Please join us in this struggle by organizing events to highlight, “People, Planet and Peace over Profit.” The EcoAction Committee of the Green Party of the United States wants to help you organize rallies, forums, direct actions, and call-ins to demand change from April 22 to May 1.
EcoAction will organize a series of webinars, including a webinar on Monday, April 14.
