Questioning their commitment to end racial profiling, New Jersey civil rights leader REV. REGINALD JACKSON says he’s not ready to support the gubernatorial candidacies of either JIM MCGREEVEY or BRET SCHUNDLER. That immediately put the campaigns of two independent candidates, State Senator WILLIAM SCHLUTER and former Rahway Councilman JERRY COLEMAN into high gear.

Both independents issued statements highlighting their own plan to end racial profiling, and Schluter said he would retain CARSON DUNBAR, the first Black State Police Superintendent. Coleman, the Green Party candidate, is the first Black to run for Governor with the support of an organized independent party.
