For
Nader platform, click on correct site
I would like to correct Bruce Kowalick's mistaken information
about Ralph Nader's platform (letter, Sept. 24). The confusion
arises from the existence of two separate organizations, each
calling themselves the Green Party. Kowalick cites the platform
and Web site of GPUSA, but Nader is running on the ticket of the
Association of State Green Parties (ASGP). While GPUSA has
endorsed Nader, Nader has not endorsed the GPUSA platform. To
see Nader's stance, visit voteNader.org. Nader will be on
"Meet the Press" at 9 a.m. Sunday debating Pat
Buchanan. Also, the Warren Green Party will show a Nader speech
on video at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 5 at 69 Fox Farm Road, Phillipsburg.

Nader's (and the ASGP's) position on taxes and economic
justice includes a livable wage for the working poor (one third
of America's 47 million workers cannot subsist on the scant
wages they make). He calls for innovative taxation (tax what we
don't want -- pollution, etc.), an end to corporate
"baby-sitting" through hand-outs, bail-outs and tax
cuts and a truly progressive income tax rather than our current
sieve that burdens the middle and working class.

Roukema should debate all candidates
On Sept. 16, I went to my first community roundtable hosted
by the town of Phillipsburg, presented by U.S. Rep. Marge
Roukema. The rhetoric and political jargon flowed from her
mouth. Every question had the prefect answer, solution or
anecdote.
When confronted with the issue of a third-party candidate
with her debates, she gave a typical politician's response that
her debates were all scheduled and would be welcomed in the next
election. Why does our system have to only be a two-party
democracy?
How are Warren County residents going to fairly compare notes
and make intelligent voting decisions? I am fed up with the two-
party system and would like to see Ralph Nader and other Green
Party candidates invited to participate in the debates. Are
there only two parties running candidates in America?
I want this forced "duopoly," as Nader brilliantly
coined the word, to end. I challenge Roukema to schedule a
debate with all of her political opponents to take place in
Warren County with the emphasis on stopping suburban sprawl. I
would like The Express Times to sponsor this event.
