Stop Nuclear Dumping in NJ!!

Plans are actually being considered by our elected officials to dump nuclear waste in Gloucester County, NJ.

Do we want to become the nuclear power industries dumping ground?

The nuclear power indusry has claimed for years that they would soon invent a way to safely dispose of radioactive waste. Well, they havn't. And their solution, low and behold, is to ship it to NJ, dump it in NJ, and dump on NJ.

Don't let this happen!

Call Glouster County freeholder Steve Sweeny and tell him that you hope he helps oppose nuclear dumping in NJ. - 609-853-3275

Call Vicki Schneider, the Glouster County environmenal official, and ask why she said she "doesn't want to get involved", and why she feels that "this isn't her responsibility". Ask her what exactly her responsibilty for the environment actually is! - 609-583-3275

Call/write/email your congressman, call senators Lautenberg and Torricelli, and contact governor Whitman. Not that Whitman really cares! But tell her you will vote for Madelyn Hoffman if she doen't stop nuclear dumping in NJ. Its worth a shot. But of course, Madelyn Hoffman has my vote anyway!

More inforamation how you can help can be found below.

ALERT ALERT ALERT ALERT ALERT ALERT ALERT

50UTH HARRISON - GLOUCESTER COUNTY, NEW JERSEY

Local citizens have just been informed by their township committee that hosting a "low-level" nuclear waste dump is being considered.

The majority of waste to be stored in this facility, as measured by radioactivity, will come from nuclear power plants and includes the following highly concentrated, long-lived wastes: irradiated piping, control rods from the cores of nuclear power plants, poison curtains, resins and coolant water filters. Upon decommissioning (dismantling, nuclear power plants themselves become "low-level" waste virtually in their entirety.

C.H,O.R.D./Communities Helping to Oppose Radioactive Dumping believes that it is patently irresponsible to store - (present technology cannot truly "dispose" of nuclear waste) in close proximity to homes, schools, churches..·

South Harrison residents have formed a group (Citizens Coalition Against Nuclear Waste) in opposition of a nuclear dump within their borders.

C.H.O.R.D. and Citizens Coalition Against Nuclear Waste, along with other nuclear and grassroots environmental groups have joined together to help South Harrison residents fight this dangerous proposal.
