The Green Party of New Jersey
Updated May 08, 2008
Robert Paul "Gabe" Gabrielsky
for NJ State Assembly -

New Jersey Second Legislative District

Gabe's Platform

Build a national social justice movement:

  • Build the Green Party as a movement center for social justice and political and social reform

  • Foster cooperation between the Green Party, the labor movement and other movements for social justice

  • Act as a tribune of people and movements who have begun to fight back against injustice

  • Encourage popular participation in government

Support proposed and pending social reform legislation and reform legislation already successful in other states and nations:

  • Oppose the death penalty.  Support the death penalty moratorium coalition

  • Pass legislation for paid family leave

  • End Police Brutality.  Democratically elected civilian police review boards

  • Universal health care based on the Massachusetts model

  • Strengthen the Occupational Safety and Health Act to mandate democratically elected work place based health and safety committees

  • Lifelong free public education, Pre-K through graduate school

Envision a Better World:

  • Just transition for Salem nuclear plant and all ecologically unsound work places.    Shut it down with corporate responsibility for full compensation of displaced workers until they find equivalent positions.

  • Equitable funding of public schools through graduated income and corporate taxes rather than property taxes to foster equity in education

  • End sprawl.  Massive commercial reinvestment in urban centers.  Massive reinvestment in public mass transit, particularly railroads.

  • End poverty.  A living wage for all New Jerseyites.  Affordable housing for all New Jerseyites.

  • End corporate welfare.  Substantially increase taxes on the corporations and the very wealthy and fines on corporations that run away to cheaper labor markets.

  • Expand democracy.  Public financing of all elections.  Proportional representation and instant run off voting at all levels of government.
